A photo of me and my workplace
I love my standing desk – favourite place for reading, thinking, and reflecting.
Pandemic emergency home office (2020). Note the ugly hacky bits elevating my beloved Setu chair (other photo) 😬 The upright tatami dampens acoustic reflections.

My favourite saying(s)
You think because you understand ‘one’, you must understand ‘two’, because one and one makes two. But you must also understand ‘and’.
Exuberance is beauty.

Conditions I like to work in
- A culture of taking initiative and ownership – self-direction paired with care
- A gentle buzz of human activity nearby or some other kind of ambient noise floor (total quiet stresses me, as does too much noise or mainstream music)
- An ebb and flow of people to interact with (balanced by a clear preference for async work)
- Self-managed with high autonomy paired with great collaboration and shared understanding
- Well-lit aesthetically cared for (playful over sterile, quirky over posh) space, good chair (alternating with standing desk), good gear, large screen
Times and hours I like to work
- A cadence of themed days: planning & alignment, deep work, meetings & social, concluding & reflecting
